Hello my name is Lilly and I am making videos about primitive living skills, survival, bushcraft, camping gear and prepping. I consider myself being a modern hunter-gatherer who wants to live as close as possible with mother nature and right now I am in the process of learning how to live off the land and thrive in the wilderness. okay guys to them in a different force and I'm searching for a good place to set up some snares when you're searching for a good place for your traps search for a place which is a little bit more wild with shrubs and things because usually small animals like to live in their animals don't really think like we do they'd rather follow that instinct so when you're searching for an animal trail just imagine where would you go if you were an animal and usually the animal chooses the path of the least resistance okay I think I just found something here there's this old rotten log laying and as you can see here there is no moss at this particular spot so what I'm thinking is that when the animal comes it will hop on the spot and continue hopping that way or this way so I want to set up a snare right here all you need for setting up snares is some snare wire and some kind of pliers so now we are going to make a snare the first thing that you want to do is you want to make a loop you just bend over one off the ends like this and then you start twisting maybe take your pliers because then it's easier to twist now you just take the other end and put it through the hole here and there you got your snare okay as anchor point I'm just taking this tree here and I wrapped the end around the tree so now we have our loop here I want to position it right here and for that I'm taking two out of sticks stick the sticks in to the ground and let them hold the snare here we go the animal is my fist the animal comes wants to hop over the stem gets tangled up here and tries to escape and it probably chokes itself okay I just have disabled the trap again in my country snaring like that is illegal and this is just for demonstration purposes so if you are in a real survival situation and you're desperate for food you can use techniques like that but this is not something that you should use just for fun in your garden because these are non-selective traps so what if for example you trap the head of your neighbor you are going to be in big trouble so don't use this in your garden this is just for survival use ok I just found another good spot for trap as you can see there is this tree leaning against another tree usually squirrels like to run up and down these stems here setting up a snare is pretty simple you just take your snare and take the end of the snare twist around the end of the snare like this this here is a good size for

girl not too big and you just let it sit like that it's not a scroll hopes along the branch here hopefully sticks its head through the sneer and get snared and maybe it falls off here and chokes itself okay I found another good spot where to set up a snare underneath these two foam logs here and if you take thank you huh Thank You Docs and if you take a look at the ground you can see some kind of trail that goes underneath the logs here and what I would do is I would set up my snare here at this branch which is stable enough so that it can hold a small animal now I make this near a little bit bigger because that's the size that you want to have for a hare for example and yeah just leave it like that it hangs in the right direction I just found a hole in the tree and it looks like that there's something living in there maybe a mouse so I would rather build a deadfall trap here than using a snare but you know sometimes bigger animals live underneath trees so we're going to set up a snare now this is going to be my anchor point a big lock that the animal can't carry away and then I set the lock you front up the hole here like that and I set up the snare like this you know when the animal comes out of the hole it has a good chance that it gets sneered and here the log the weight of the log is big enough to hold the animal another good spot for setting up snares is here at the Riverside

okay as you can see here there are a ton of duck tracks and pheasant tracks so this is the perfect spot for sneering and I would set up the snare right here where the anchor point is so yeah it's quite a little bit off the ground because usually packs they carry the head a little bit higher so the drag comes from the water and it wants to get ashore and then it snails itself okay i'm dissembling this near as well as I said in my country this is illegal and yeah you are more effective if you set up you know ten snares instead of one because yeah with one scenario you wouldn't get a lot of food so if you set up tents nares you have ten times the chance to get food so here I would set up a ton of snares I would set up like 20 along the shore personally I'm brother hunter than a trapper because with the gun I can select the exact animal that I want but sometimes nearing is much more effective especially if you don't have to spend a lot of time to set up snares and they are going to do the work for you yeah so I want to thank you for watching please check out these videos here at the side and yeah maybe subscribe to my channel if you want to see more stay tuned till next time
