so the last time I was here was 11 months ago almost to the day it's kind of surreal but uh yeah pick it up where I left off this time on foot no bike and heading south

[Music]

[Music]

it's pretty chilly this morning it's not like it might have got down to 30 degrees last night or at least 30 degrees this morning so for now hiking in a jacket tights and had some socks on my hands but took those off recently [Applause]

have a good day so one thing about the Arizona Trail are those these gates and there's tons of them [Music]

so today has been an interesting day unknowns the most of you there was actually somebody hiking with me to start this trip and he hiked with me at the start yesterday and then this morning found out that he might have a stomach ulcer so he had to get off the trail at Lake Norman so only 15 miles into our trip so today I hiked solo and I'm solo from here on out so I decided I was probably only gonna do 20 miles to there not to get too crazy and I got to the 20-mile mark to a tank a water tank cattle tank and it was way too early way too early it's three o'clock I don't wanna stop for the day that's too early for me too late for me to stop I can so I just had to push another five miles to this other cattle tank to make it a 25 mile day and when I got here it was completely bone dry so I am dry camping and I really really hate dry camping I have 1 liter of water and that's after I've cold soaked my food for the night but only one liter of water left and five and a half miles till I get to the first water source tomorrow and looks like tomorrow is going to be another 25 mile day maybe more I really don't want to dry camp again so [Music]

[Music]

our road walk and that sounds kind of easy it's not it's like being back in Pennsylvania on the Appalachian Trail [Music]

all right no I don't have to be dehydrated all day [Music]

Coffee water it's all I had it's it he's gonna have to last me for quite some time if this water wasn't here it still tastes like coffee this is a nice spot this is a really nice part when you stay here today [Music]

here's the trail coming up can't really see the grade but it's kind of steep and then there's the trail going up [Music]

it's kind of crazy it's very East Coast really reminds me sections of the 80 like every single day and the 80 I'm wore out

I'm very more up [Music]

[Music]

that view is amazing it's like hiking down the Grand Canyon massive massive Gorge Canyon whatever you want to call it I guess it's Arizona so it's a canyon kind of having a bummer a day yesterday this is a nice payoff with every down there's an up on the trail trail and that view what an absolute surprise this part of the trail has been I just came into this like super lush forest totally different than what I've been hiking in the last couple days check this out there's actually water do you hear that actual water not a cow tank not a pond not a stagnant pool of water real flowing water Oh can't beat that beautiful here today's a very good morale booster much needed [Music]

[Music]

you

At the end of 2014 my wife Snuggles & I decided to quit our jobs, sell 95% of the things we own, & leave our home town for good in search of adventure, culture, & the true meaning of happiness. We bought a van, traveled all over the country & hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (2189.2 miles). We are still seeking adventure in new places, meeting new people, trying new food & drink, & discovering all that we can.

This Channel has developed into a main hub for aspiring hikers & current hikers to gain info on a wide variety of Trail Topics. With a series of Trip Videos, Q&A, Tip Videos, & Gear Reviews, I aim to get you out on the trail and hiking more!

Hike On,
Darwin
