so the reason it is super loud and super noisy out here because we are road walking on a bridge and the other reason is super loud and super noisy is because we finally made it to New Hampshire you

you

so this morning we just left spending the night last night in Hanover New Hampshire we actually got really lucky and after we got into Hanover we resupplied because of a trail magic box mail drop that our buddy rube sent us thanks rube and thanks mama rube you guys are the best and then we whenever you get into Hanover there's a big list of trail angels that you can call that will put you up for the night so we called a guy by the name of Warren and his wife Toni they came and picked us up took us to their house and it was amazing they took us out to eat Chinese and then they took us out for gelato it was pretty great and then we went back to their house relaxed sit out on their porch drank a beer and even got some of the coolest Trump Jack I've ever gotten which was a glass of 14 year old single malt scotch pretty great so we left hand over this morning and we're back on the trail and we are headed for mount moosilauke um which is the gateway to the whites so we will soon be in the White Mountains the tow is doing a lot better

I think the Scotch helped and yeah I gone

you

when how we'll climb on the way you

I'm a musa luck you

still climbing

you can see through the trees but we're getting to already mine pretty damn up there if you haven't caught the joke yet it's a big-ass mouth you

yesterday we ended up doing a 16-mile day at the end of it we went up and over Musa lock as you seen pretty tough day and today is our official first day in the White Mountains last night we stayed at the notch hostel in Woodstock right after Musa lock and we didn't do it a lot last year so we decided we'd take advantage of it this year but today we are slack packing as you can see my pack is kind of downgraded a little bit so I'm pretty much just carrying some snacks for the day a rain jacket some emergency stuff and of course the camera so we're actually doing a 16-mile slack pack today which 16 miles seems like it's going to be pretty big for the whites um we're going from Kingsman notch to Franconia Notch a pretty interesting section on the Kingsman Ridge is just this crazy old growth forest really a rugged terrain super mossy rocky and Rudy muddy very beautiful but a very whoop your ass terrain

it's way to day and many people here that's high Franconia Ridge all the way up the whole lot here Franconia Ridge is absolutely beautiful you see behind me it goes all the way from haystack Mountain which is back there all the way to mount lafayette which is right in front you can see the people going up and set it up completely above treeline it's really beautiful so we're just getting in climbing Mountain Garfield up there is Franconia Ridge where we were earlier today so we did all that and came down that here we are over there just a ten-mile day total but in the whites that's one hell of a day

crazy windy

first up big view of personal with Mount Washington to be the one with all the towers on climbing that guy in the morning there's Washington everything behind it is completely in the clouds beautiful beautiful morning in the White Mountains

you

6,000 288 feet and it's beautiful up here

no hardcore wind no rain no snow no ice say woohoo so we are officially done with the presidentials and the biggest part of the whites yesterday we hiked into Pinkham Notch which is the first entrance into Gorham and we decided to go ahead and come on down into Gorham and today we are actually taking a zero so we still have the Wildcats to do which we'll do tomorrow which is the very last part of the whites and then I think total we're about 30 30 something miles away from Maine so we are almost completely out of New Hampshire and an in Maine you know we've been waiting to get in Maine for quite a long time so we'll finally be there so today we're me and snuggles are taking a zero we are at the White Mountain Lodge and hostel which this place is absolutely amazing you can see it here in front of me really nice setup super amazing people and just you know it's really nice today to just kind of relax the whites definitely put a little bit of a hurtin on us it's some definitely rough terrain but we got it done and we got it done pretty swiftly so um typically I don't rant about things that I don't like on videos but I wanted to touch on a couple things from the video early on that I didn't really shoot two things I just kind of wanted to put a little heads up out there number one the knotch hostel we stayed there whenever we did the slack pack of kinsmen Ridge not exactly my favorite place they ended up doing is pretty dirty and whenever we got back from that slack pack that actually sold our room to someone else and didn't have a bed to give us that night so we had to ten out in the yard and then even though we were tented out in the yard and they were super sorry for that they had this big party and the owners set outside and got drunk with a bunch of hikers and till about midnight so kept us up all night so not a big fan of that place the hostel is super nice it just opened last year so they're they're very new but I wouldn't suggest going there it's definitely a bit of a party place and they treated us kind of dirty so just my two cents on that so and then whenever we were in the whites the night before we summited Mount Washington we actually try to do a work for stay at an AMC Hut so there's these little bitty they're kind of like hotels in the mountains it's kind of like a shelter but it's more like a hotel people pay a lot of money but through hikers can do work for stay there so you can come in wash some dishes clean someone does that sort of thing they'll feed you and they'll put you up for the night so snuggles and I try to do a work for stay at lakes of the clouds Hut it's right there before Washington if you're going novo and they treat it as like absolute dogshit it was a very bad experience I will never try to do work for stay again so just kind of want to throw that out there too not very pleased with the AMC aside from that they also like to charge hikers quite an absurd amount of money to camp and stay at a shelter they charge $10 a night per person to stay at shelters and the whites I know they got to make their money but maybe there's something a little bit better they can do about it so that's my little rant I just wanted to kind of throw that out there aside from that whenever you get out of the whites if you're going southbound our northbound or before you get into the whites if you're going southbound definitely stay at white mountain hostel and lodge it's amazing such great people here such a relaxing environment so next time you see is we will be in Maine like or dislike my video

At the end of 2014 my wife Snuggles & I decided to quit our jobs, sell 95% of the things we own, & leave our home town for good in search of adventure, culture, & the true meaning of happiness. We bought a van, traveled all over the country & hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (2189.2 miles). We are still seeking adventure in new places, meeting new people, trying new food & drink, & discovering all that we can.

This Channel has developed into a main hub for aspiring hikers & current hikers to gain info on a wide variety of Trail Topics. With a series of Trip Videos, Q&A, Tip Videos, & Gear Reviews, I aim to get you out on the trail and hiking more!
