just hop back on trail after a day off in Bridgeport California so we came down from Sonora Pass after it being just crazy windy tons of snow fields pretty hard day in the town got down to Sonora Pass and went down into Bridgeport took a zero day to kind of you know rest my weary bones after doing that last long stretch of the Sierra to get rid of my bear can finally get rid of my micro spikes switch out a few things in my pack gear wise picked up my other set of trekking poles that are hopefully gonna be a little bit sturdier if I have some more snow and most importantly I took the day to spend my 11 year wedding anniversary to my wife snuggles we took the day off and hung out pretty much just in a hotel room watch TV went out to eat and bummed around the town of Bridgeport
[Music]
it's about two o'clock and I have stopped to take a break usually I stop way before two o'clock but I didn't get started till 9:30 so two o'clock seems reasonable today I decided to yet again carry out some hummus it's like toasted pine nut hummus oh good it's really good leaving leave ining so I just had to grab some more couldn't find any PITA for some reason but one of my favorite things about California is they have this grocery store called bonds it's like all over the place and they have these things which is a cheddar jalapeno like baguette they're like 50 cents it has over 500 calories in it dipped in hummus or some cheese under something we good so that is totally lunch for the next three days a little heavy but we're only doing a like three and a half day resupply until I get to South Lake Tahoe so any time I'm doing a small resupply I always carry some a little bit extra heavy food some bread some hummus and yeah it's hard to beat super hard to beat

trail is so beautiful today and totally different between yesterday and today it's just completely changed from that High Sierra Mountain ish feel to these just big beautiful open fields and valleys and greenery and flowers and so nice to have a big change the High Sierra were really beautiful but I gotta say I was definitely ready to get out of them
[Music]
well today was overall a pretty fantastic day on the trail it's a probably been a little bit since I've been able to say that since usually my day ends with postholing or injuring myself and somehow or ending with wet feet or something but today was pretty amazing trail is definitely changing a lot going away from that whole sierra filled with a lot of snow and high mountain passes
- nice cruzi rolling hills kind of desert ii again definitely desert ii and just beautiful absolutely beautiful big green fields and big mountains in the distance got here to camp pretty early today I think like 4:30 before 5 o'clock 25 miles almost 25 miles so feeling pretty good about that it's been a while since we've done that as well got the tent set up I have eaten tomorrow we have another 20-something mile day and then our plan is to walk the following day a real small day do an arrow into Echo lakes and then we should be able to hitch down to South Lake Tahoe which pretty excited about that one it is the end of the Sierra section of the gut hook app so get to load up that Northern California Oregon section so we're getting close to getting out of California Plus apparently they have a Chinese buffet and possibly an Indian restaurant and the three of us have really been talking about eating Chinese and Indian food for quite some time so hopefully that happens it is a beautiful morning on the trail I woke up this morning a little bit later at 6:00 a.m. so started rolling about 7:00 look I just need a little bit of extra sleep last night right after I turned the camera
crews actually came into camp and he had met a good friend that lives kind of close by to the section that ran up at a road and his friend actually packed in a couple beers for us so we sit around the campfire for a little bit last night and and had a beer which was really nice but a long time since I've done that I'm probably gonna try to put in like 24 25 today my plan is to camp at a spot tonight to where I only have like four or five six miles into town in the morning that way I can just kind of take a Nero and hang out all the vicious is actually only gonna be hiking out two miles from where we camped at last night with Cruz's friend and gonna he's gonna go ahead and head down in Tahoe he cracked something in his knee last night coming into camp and he was pretty much hobbling into camp which I've definitely had that happen to me in the past and I'm no stranger to it so I know how he feels and I don't really blame him so hopefully tomorrow when we get into town Cruz and I will meet up with him and then I think all three of us are gonna split a hotel room together so this morning is really beautiful so far watching the Sun come up mosquitoes are kind swarming around but not too bad yet and looking forward to how much the trail is going to change today

so today was pretty much a normal I can get on the trail and I got back to Carson's past and my plan was just a pass through Carson's pass and there was somebody waiting for me there one of the subscribers to the channel named drew I believe his channel is called hiking bike or bike and hike check it out he was waiting for me at Carson's pass with some trail magic he had actually been there since 7 a.m. I think it was 11 when I got there and he had a box for me that had two bags of Fritos in it three avocados which I've already eaten two of them a bottle of smart water and a bunch of Starbucks via coffee packs so pretty amazing thanks drew so much for popping up they're super awesome especially the avocados man I haven't eaten a lot of avocados out here on the PCT yet but I love so thank you so much drew and actually also caught up with some other hikers that I hadn't seen in a while at Carson's so pretty cool it's been a pretty great day after Carson's past it's just been pretty cruisy Trail nothing too nutty nothing too steep nothing too snowy it's been pretty nice trail today so overall just an awesome day on the trail [Music]
today ended up being a pretty tough day towards the end once I left Carson pass it definitely got kind of nasty a lot of snow fields really steep climbs Cruz and I are camped only four miles away from Echo Lake which is where we're gonna hitch in in the morning we could have went all the way today but our plan was to just kind of camp right outside that way we can get in there in the morning and have a full day so only four miles a really small niro it's basically a zero at that point especially cuz we have some pretty flat cruzi terrain all the way to the road and we have our heart set on a Chinese buffet which sounds pretty awesome maybe some Indian food and a free pizza supposedly supposedly had a local pizza place that gives PCT hikers some free pie if you present your permit so the plan is to check into a hotel relax and eat a ton of food one fun fact about today that I kind of didn't realize until a while back is that we intersected the Tahoe Rim Trail so just like on the JMT we are now on another long-distance trail I don't know how long the Tahoe Rim Trail is but it does use a nice big chunk of the PCT so that's kind of neat so it's like three trails and one you get the PCT the JMT and the Tahoe Rim Trail so kind of neat often rolling this morning we have only four miles into town our at least to erode Echo Lake and then we're gonna thumb it and get down into Lake Tahoe South Lake Tahoe East Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe I I don't know what it is it's Lake Tahoe it's a big lake and yeah we are again currently on the Tahoe Rim Trail which is pretty wild being on another trail so I guess that's another trail I can mark off the list we're doing a section not really it's still just the PCT there is a lot of Chinese food and possibly even some Indian food in our near future [Music]
[Music]
we made it down to Lake Tahoe got into Echo Lake and it took us a little bit but we finally got a hitch got down here to Lake Tahoe we were sitting right now at the beach which is really nice if we can't check into the hotel that crews got until like four o'clock so really crazy late check-in but we dropped our packs back off the hotel we went to base camp pizza and if you are a PCT hiker base camp actually gives you a free small pizza of your choice so we got a free pizza had a beer and bound Foxtrot so foxtrots actually here met up with him and I'm just kind of hanging out hang out for a couple more hours hopefully check in a hotel relax and then later on we're going to get Chinese food
just hopped back on the trail after a day off and South Lake Tahoe and currently hiking around awake just awesome
had a nice day of refueling and getting some rest got some new shoes refueling food beer rest still pretty good got a good early start this morning out of town got to the trailhead early thanks to Cruz's parents awesome people that [Applause]
let us stay in a hotel room for the night and drove us up to the trail took us to get Indian food last night awesome thank you it's good to be back out on the trail and time to put down some miles get to see our city you

Charles been amazing today so far absolutely beautiful lots of legs tons of rock I can own a lot of rock today by just amazing amazingly beautiful it's wild because there hasn't been a pass since Sonora which is you know over a hundred miles back so all right at a hundred miles so it's wild to be going over another pass hopefully the Sun has melted all the snow on the north side and on the south set and I don't have to do a whole bunch of snow hiking beautiful today the beautiful scenery to Dix pass made it up here on Dix pass a little snow on the north side but what a view so since it's starting to get warm outside I decided to ditch my stove again well I didn't ditch my stove I ditched my fuel can I still carry the stove cause it weighs so little but yeah no more fuel no more hot food you know it's not a weight thing I really just don't like eating hot food when it's warm outside it just doesn't sit right in my stomach I don't like having hot coffee in the morning it just doesn't feel right
but yeah so on the menu tonight is cold soaked couscous Mediterranean curry so I didn't just get regular couscous and throw my own stuff and I actually got a box to couscous it's supposed to taste like Mediterranean curry so I'm pretty excited about that aside from that today ended up being a 31 mild day and I really have no idea how that happened I felt really good today the terrain was really smooth aside from that little bit of snow upon dix pass and I kept trying to go to a campsite and it wasn't that great and there was a ton of mosquitoes and I went to another campsite and there was a bunch of hikers there I think our South bounders that our flip-floppers and then like every time I kept going and just kept adding a little bit more mileage and Here I am a 31 I haven't seen vicious or crews all day long aside from this morning I think that I passed them at some point because they weren't planning on even doing like 25 miles so I guess I'm rocking solo from here on out tomorrow I'm supposed to be going over something called squall pass our squall Valley ski area and it's supposed to be pretty sketchy and a lot of snow so I see how that goes but uh for now I'm being a solo being by myself and yeah kind of nice sometimes it's been a while you know it's been like 300 miles 400 miles since I've been by myself so I'm definitely definitely enjoying it [Music]
you

At the end of 2014 my wife Snuggles & I decided to quit our jobs, sell 95% of the things we own, & leave our home town for good in search of adventure, culture, & the true meaning of happiness. We bought a van, traveled all over the country & hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (2189.2 miles). We are still seeking adventure in new places, meeting new people, trying new food & drink, & discovering all that we can.
This Channel has developed into a main hub for aspiring hikers & current hikers to gain info on a wide variety of Trail Topics. With a series of Trip Videos, Q&A, Tip Videos, & Gear Reviews, I aim to get you out on the trail and hiking more!
