so what is today today is Sunday okay sure and we are packing up the van it head to Utah and start the Arizona time that's exciting tip excited how are you feeling nervous anxious ready to go [Music]

so we finally made it here to the Utah Arizona border actually the state line the border is a about nine miles that way

so we're nine miles away from the campground of where the Arizona Trail starts it's a primitive campground but the thing that sucks it is down nine miles down a pretty nasty road apparently whenever it rains it's impassable there's a big nice sign over there

so it is supposed to rain in the morning so we don't want to risk it drive nine miles and then snuggles have to drive out by herself while I'm starting the trail so the plan is were in a camp here right at the end of the road I'm going to get up a little extra early and I'm going to ride that first nine miles to the trailhead [Music]

so after a short warm-up ride cut nine miles from the van down a this road here I finally made it to the official start of the Arizona Trail so 800 miles 750 750 miles it all starts here

so feeling pretty good about this I think looks like I have kind of a climb out of buckskin passage here and then the only thing to do now is head south so buckskin pass starting the trail is one hell of a climb out just instant hike a bike fully loaded a rig it's really hard to ride up it first week a lot of elevation gang but and the views the views are just phenomenal check it out

[Music]

I have finally come to the first actual natural water source since I started it's day two but I am about 40 miles from the beginning of the trail so at exactly 40 miles is the first water source

it's a at the pond gets a collection of rainwater which you know it rained a lot last night however it looks a little scummy and there's a slight smell of cow shit near so according to the app that I'm using the Arizona Trail app there is a water tank right up the hill here so we're going to check it and see if it's got water in it I guess it collects from the rain as well I might be closer in water out of there if not except we'll be coming back to scum City here's the Hank [Music]

At the end of 2014 my wife Snuggles & I decided to quit our jobs, sell 95% of the things we own, & leave our home town for good in search of adventure, culture, & the true meaning of happiness. We bought a van, traveled all over the country & hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (2189.2 miles). We are still seeking adventure in new places, meeting new people, trying new food & drink, & discovering all that we can.

This Channel has developed into a main hub for aspiring hikers & current hikers to gain info on a wide variety of Trail Topics. With a series of Trip Videos, Q&A, Tip Videos, & Gear Reviews, I aim to get you out on the trail and hiking more!

Hike On,
Darwin
