hey guys it's Darwin here with a full gear review of the BRS ultralight backpacking stove

okay so recently I did a video called ultralight gear on a budget where I featured the BRS backpacking stove and it got a lot of great response a lot of people asking questions and wanting to know more information and if I could put it to the test a little bit more so I've spent about the last month really putting this guy through its paces today I'm finally ready to give you my final thoughts on it now as most of you might know my go-to stove is the Snow Peak light max ultralight stove I absolutely love that stove I've been using it for about two years now but I was ready to start looking at something different and putting something to the test so I heard really good things about this BRS stove and I decided to pick one up over on Amazon now to break down some of the specifics on the stove it weighs point 9 ounces it stands about two and a half inches from the fuel canister and it's about two inches wide for its pot support the BRS is constructed of 60% titanium alloy and the rest is a little bit of stainless steel and brass which is what makes this little guy ultra light now as you can see in a comparison video it's about half of the size of what my snow-peak light max stove is so number one I really liked it it's a little bit more compact it really gets compact whenever you break these little bitty folding arms down flip the regulator and then put it in its tiny little stuff sack that it comes with so it barely takes up any room in your pack especially at only 0.9 ounces the overall build quality of this stove is actually really nice and it doesn't feel cheap by any means the regulator gives you really nice control where you can really get the flame nice and small so where you can simmer if you need to and then by turning it up you can get a nice big full blast flame to really boil some water fast

so speaking of boiling I figured I would put this guy up to the test against my Snow Peak Light Max and see what the boil times are on each and how they compare so to make the test pair I'm going to use the exact same Snow Peak mug two cups of water the exact same fuel can and note that I am currently in Albuquerque New Mexico which is sitting about 5,000 feet above sea level so let's go ahead and start the clock and see how they do [Music]

okay so as you can see the BRS boiled two cups of water and four minutes and nine seconds

we're mice no people like max actually boiled the same amount of water in four minutes and 21 seconds so crazy enough the BRS actually boils water faster than my Snow Peak now it's not an insane amount faster but still it's more efficient when put under the same conditions the only thing that I disliked about the stove is if you are going to be using a larger pot it only has about a two inch diameter of pot support so you really have to watch whenever you get to that boil to make sure that it doesn't tip over when it starts Rocking so overall I've been really really happy with the BRS stove and even though that I've been doing a lot of stove was camping lately the next time I grab a stove to hit the trail I'll definitely reach for the BRS so the BRS ultralight is going to run you anywhere between fourteen and eighteen dollars over on amazon.com so if you're interested in checking one out and getting some more information on one I'll put a link in the description box below so you can find out for yourself if you haven't had a chance yet go over and check me out on Instagram I'm posting a lot of new photos lately of some of the things that snuggles and I have going on throughout the week plus some pictures from some past hikes if you found any value in this video go ahead and hit that like button subscribe to my channel if you haven't already and as always guys thanks for watching [Music]
