hi my name is Mike and today I'm gonna review the Pathfinder Scout knife from Dave Canterbury so stay tuned so this is the Pathfinder Scout knife from Dave Canterbury I got this through a pass around from out to obtain a link his channel down below and yeah my first or initial impression the huge knife it really is it's not a small little bushcraft knife so huge blade the sheath let's talk about the sheath first of course I'm not the first one who got it so it actually has some scratch marks on it already

also some of the guys has cut one of those teachings down there so it starts to fry up down there which is yeah I think not that good could be better but okay it wasn't me so art or someone else did it it has a fire steel loop and some of the guys I don't know who or if this come with the knife I don't know but put a fire steel in here and yeah you can secure it down with this bungee cord you have a rivet on top the stitching down there no rivet at the bottom no rivet at the bottom and no drainage hole which I find is not good with the leather sheath talking about the sheath the knife will fall out on its own so it's not held very securely in this sheet I think they could have done a better job with the sheath overall it's okay but not good the belt loop though is very good its riveted down and it's huge so it will fit the two inch belt without a doubt so there she is overall look looks like a kitchen knife to me Tess Brown linen micarta handle or canvas canvas micarta with this bolts on this side of the blade you can see the Pathfinder logo from Dave Canterbury and on the other side you have the logo of the manufacturer which is battle horse knife let's talk about this steel F high carbon steel it will rust on you it already has stained a patina on it so it's good to keep this blade oiled after using it it's a full tank blade as for the grind of the blade you have a saber grind so it's more like a scandinavian grind that goes higher up on the blade with a secondary bevel or secondary edge which is the actual cutting edge but now enough let's see what this plate can do this season then tried out would had better carving knives than this one but yeah it's a big knife it feels good in the hand so yeah I can't feel any hot spots right now the handle is very rounded and feels good to my hand I have hand size 9 to 10 and I think the handle length is adequate because this is not my knife I'm not always dressing the blade because I don't want to damage the knife or eventually break it well pointing a stick is not the hardest job for a knife but this knife did a very good job at it just to give you a look in the feel of the size of the knife I will start with a very well-known knife which is a clipper Cold Steel SRK bucha Fox rolled opinel number 10 epic story knocks Forrester Iker sweet 88 a lot of people are using their clipper and the clipper is much much smaller than the Pathfinder Scout knife but what is this huge knife for well I think it's good for patterning but I said before I won't always dress the plate because it's not mine all I'm going to do is do some very light patterning to show you that this knife is very good at it not just because of the geometry of displayed but also because it has a long blade it has a sturdy full tang construction a comfortable handle and yeah it's well built so let's try out small batoning right now and take a baton that is not just a stick want to have a huge baton well it is a tough steal I don't know how high they hardened the blade but so far so good when you go at the very end of the handle hold the knife like this get much more chopping power let's talk about the knife what is it what what is good at the knife and what is bad in the line well good as the overall didn't finish to build quality

I think it's good so I'll build you can't feel anything any sharp edges feels good in the hand it's sturdy but that's it the sheath for me is crap it's simple as that if the knife falls out of the sheath like this you will lose it and you won't have a knife again this is a survival knife that you have lost in the woods for me not sheath is the most important thing at all accustomed with a good sheath you carry a knife and have it at hand when you need it with bad sheath you're screwed so does he so the sheath not good as for a knife as told fit and finish is good build quality good handle material good steel 1095 well personally I don't like rusted rusting steels I do like him for several reasons but I do but I don't like him for a survival plate just into it I really like stainless blades when it comes to survival this is survival knife you never know in which scenario you're stranded we went a time but it's very wet the channel this thing will rust on you sooner or later and you have no way to keep it all to keep decreased and to prevent it against rust

so that was my honest review of this knife how to I don't get me wrong it's just not my knife I like the size put several reasons as I told before but all in all personally I won't buy it for myself

maybe it's your perfect blade but for me it's too expensive and doesn't fit my needs so thanks for watching see you next time Micah
