Video Transcription
hi there guys it's Mike from mcq bushcraft here and welcome to another video on the channel in this video I'll be doing a bit of a channel update for you letting you know where I've been what I've been up to and also what's to come on the channel mainly for the reasons because the last two months I haven't been able to put out that many videos I'll be incredibly busy I just wanted to reach out to everybody out there and answer the questions that you've been asking me really where I've been and am I still producing videos I've had a lot of emails and comments to suggest that you know I'm gone or that I'm monetizing the channel and in a way that I'm doing paid subscription or I've seen lots of sort of comments about people sort of saying what what I'm doing but the reality is is that I've just been really busy now for those of you who follow me on Facebook and also follow me on Instagram your no wife and up to as I post pretty regularly on their day-to-day about what I'm doing if I can but obviously not everybody uses that type of social media and I can totally understand why if it wasn't for work I wouldn't use it either so YouTube's really the natural Avenue for me to to reach out to people to communicate with everybody and to let people know what's going on and always feel like I do owe it to my subscribers to sort of give them an update if I haven't been around for a while because there are people out there you look forward to the videos they support the channel and you know I always feel like it's a it's an honorable thing to do really rather than just appear out of nowhere
with new videos every now and then so for those who have follow me online you'll probably know that about a week ago on the 30th of July I got married to my wife Megan I've been with Megan for quite a long time now and we've been planning a wedding for a while and we have a really nice day we got married at a place called Wood Chester mansion it's like an old Gothic mansion built for the Pope by some eccentric character that was expecting him to come over and live there but he never did it was a wonderful day really happy day for both of us and appreciate everybody's support I had a look on Facebook and I did post some pictures up on there over the day and thank you so much for all the kind she gave the both of us it really didn't mean a lot to us we didn't expect that and you know really appreciate all your support say thanks very much for wishing us the best of luck but off the back of the wedding and back to the videos myself and making a going on a bit of a honeymoon not just yet but in September the first two weeks of September were going to northern Sweden are actually being sponsored to go out there through the channel and that's been made possible by a particular company that I'll sort of bring a light to near at the time and really I'll be doing a lot of filming out there so it's kind of a working honeymoon for me but at the same time I really don't mind that because Megan can be my cameraman woman at times and we can do some filming together and share the workload but we're going out there on a bit of a wilderness expedition I will be doing some canoeing and camping wild camping out in the wilderness of northern Sweden we'll also be doing a bit of hunting and fishing as well
camping cooking in the wild and just seeing the sights and signs of probably some of the most beautiful wilderness in Europe it really is a wonderful country I've been to Norway and other parts of Europe like Germany but I've always wanted to go to Sweden and it's really getting to the point now where we've got a few of these trips booked up not always through sponsors but obviously people support the channel and were able to kind of do these expeditions so next year I have some trips planned we've almost booked the tickets actually to go away and do a little bit in other parts of the world as well and when that's all confirmed I'll let you know about that too so you know I've got a lot of things planned really and I do plan on filming in other parts of the world I think you know the UK is quite limited in that in the kind of wilderness we have it's a beautiful country and I love it it's my home but you know other parts of the the world offer that more vast wilderness really to explore and you know I'm looking forward to getting out there and seeing that in September so when I get back I will obviously get things edited and probably release the videos one at a time hoping to probably do about 10 or 12 videos when I'm out there you know like a kind of daily blog of what we're doing some of the experiences were having and just share it with you as it comes
and hopefully um you know you can come along and join us for the for the trip but some I've been incredibly busy this year I do apologize for the lack of videos over the last two months specifically the last two months I've probably only been able to put out a couple of videos including this one which is quite poor really but work this year has been has been tremendously busy I've been running a lot of courses have been working for a lot of different companies like Gloucestershire wildlife trust I've been in the Forest of Dean I've even been up in the Lake District running courses as well and it's great to meet subscribers at the same time but also it does take away time away from you getting away to film if that makes sense
a lot of the films I had planned or still have planned take time you know I need to go away I need to get into wild places and travel a bit and and there can't be just done out in woodland settings like this that a near my home or where I live I really want to get away and sort of do the videos justice so I generally hold off and that's really always been my way with the channel if I can't do it properly I won't do it at all and I always try and maintain that quality in the videos I put forward mainly because you know it's important to me to put together decent videos and show things in their true light but I've got lots to come things on high Tanning's still to come I know I get asked about that all the time but after September I do have a couple of weeks dedicated to filming hi tank I know it's a bit of a wait for people who want it now but I'm sorry that's the way it is you've gotta wait for these things sometimes got lots of hides in my freezer from deer to smaller animals like squirrels and squirrels just things sorry rabbits and squirrels just things that I've been out and hunted myself just through the means of going out and getting meat and you know just been been using the hides really in keeping them in storage for hide tanning obviously got some trips away got some solo bushcraft got loads of things coming up like sleep systems and gear before I go to Sweden
I've got a few videos coming out about packing for the trip some adjustments that I've made it's my backpack to make it more comfortable some modular things I've done to it just to improve it for longer durations out in the field and you know just some big trips like that going to going away abroad to on proper expeditions and things it's just a good way of pushing you to do jobs you've even needed to do on your gear for a while but I've just held off because you've not needed to do it so it's been a good push for me really to address a few things I've wanted to do but other than that I just wanna welcome new subscribers I always see a lot of comments coming up on the channel I read through them lots of questions left for me to answer so a big welcome to new subscribers and a thank-you to existing ones for for being patient and waiting for the videos and supporting the channel and I'm away now for the next three weeks it's the way it goes with this kind of job when you're self-employed you've got a you've got to take the work that's just the way it is and everything else gets put on the back burner but I've got another three weeks now with youth groups in the Forest of Dean I'll be camping in the woods for three weeks I do get one day off in between so I've got all my kit together ready to go out and sleep in the hammock for three weeks which will be interesting usually after the first night you know you sleep like a baby but you know there's always that adjustment period when you're out in refrigeration like that but should be good I'm looking forward to it be hard work but after that it's a few weeks and then off to Sweden and then back and for the Windsor our I have very few courses on so hopefully we're gonna get back on the videos and they'll be very regular one a week as I've always intended it to be but in the meantime thanks for staying jeans thanks for watching thanks for your support and I'll see you very soon in another video so I hope everyone's well take care guys thanks again
About the Author
MCQBushcraft
I'm a UK based outdoorsman who started hunting and fishing with my friends when I was young.
Educating yourself about your surroundings and having the core skills to sustain yourself using your environment is a lost curriculum in the United Kingdom. We are well provided for, so well that "why do anything if somebody else will do it for you". This lifestyle has drastically disconnected people from having the knowledge and skills required to spend even one night in the woods and not get hungry.
I love being outdoors and have never lost the desire to learn and practice skills that I get a sense of natural connection from. Hunting hangs controversy in the minds of many, but in my eyes there is nothing more natural if you choose to eat meat. I appreciate that not everybody hunts in moderation though.
Thanks for reading
