Video Transcription
hi there guys it's mike here from MC kee bushcraft I'm back after quite a long break over the holiday period I hope everybody out there had a very happy new year I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year for 2015 and this video is going to be a channel update video where I tell you a little bit about what's coming up over 2015 in terms of video content but before I do that I really wanted to just take a moment to express my my thanks to everybody out there who subscribed and actually watches the channel I'm even if you don't subscribe and you watch the channel you know I do really appreciate your interest in the videos and it really does mean a great deal to me the amount of support I've gotten and never expected the channel to grow so quickly you know over 2014 like started it really three years ago is a bit of a hobby and you know and to it to some extent it really still is a hobby but the support I've been you know given and shown from everybody out there and you know it creates a lot of inspiration and encouragement for me to keep making videos and obviously I really enjoy making the videos you probably tell I put an awful lot into them and invest a lot of time and even money into making videos but it really does pay off to see people being inspired and going out and starting bushcraft or commenting and just watching the video so it means a great deal to me it really does and I just want to thank everybody out there I've got a lot of gratitude to show for it so thank you so much and also a bit of a welcome to new subscribers who are recently been watching the videos I hope you're enjoying the content that's currently on the channel and beer only 50 videos there's still a lot more to come for 2015 so thank you very very much so in terms of content to come for 2015 what's actually coming up and I've got an exciting new series starting while I've been planning for a while and I had a chat with a few people it's been ongoing for a little while now and it's called bushcraft basic skills and it's really season one of one of what might be more seasons to come in the future depending on how it's received and whether people actually find the content useful of course and I noticed in the comments section and in general a lot of people are being inspired to start bushcraft and they might not have a sort of clear path or road to follow so you actually develop the kit develop knowledge and it can be quite an overwhelming thing to start bushcraft is a massive array of outdoor living skills in terms of subject matter and you're always a novice to mother nature I am still a novice to mother nature there's a million things to learn and it will take longer than a lifetime to master it which is why it's so enjoyable there's always something to learn you're always picking up new skills so we're all kind of new to bushcraft in a sense but if you're just starting out in the subject and you're interested hopefully this series will help you out because what it's going to do is it's going to start right at the beginning and move through the whole process of building a kit and not only building it but understanding why you're putting that kit together and why those items are actually useful so you have a clear understanding of what you're actually looking at how to use it and then how to use it with the natural resources that are out there and understanding a bit about the natural resources that are out there as well some of the basic skills you really need to kind of get honed if you want to go out and do wild camping and practice bushcraft skills so hopefully it'll be a really useful series for people who are looking for like a a clear field guide but in video format to take them out on their journey sort of through bushcraft really to the other end where they'll be fairly competent be able to go out and practice those skills and you know be fairly competent and the field so other than that series I've just discussed bushcraft basic skills what else is to come a normal content will roll as usual as you've probably noticed with my channel if you've been subscribed for a while sometimes is a bit of a gap between video production and that's really just down to my job sometimes I have to go away and they get a chance to produce videos and the video editing process can be quite long so do you put a lot of effort into video production and try and making this high quality as possible and I don't really like to sacrifice that sometimes because you know I do enjoy making them and it is important to me to have a degree of quality and a decent standard in the videos but normal videos we will be out alongside that series and you know again there'll be every one to two weeks sometimes one every week or a two in a week it really just depends on the time i get but i will be producing consistent videos through 2015 as i did in 2014 and I generally roll with the season so I don't really have a huge plan on what I'm doing for videos I generally just see what's going on and what wild edibles are at this time of year and you know go out and shoot a video on something that interests me or that I may see is useful to put on the channel this content I might not have covered yet and there should actually be a lot of content in 2015 II didn't see in 2014 and yet hopefully it should be enjoyable but one question I get asked quite a bit is when i'll be doing other solo bushcraft venture and you know it's not a question on mind answering but i thought i'd mention it on this video is it seems to be the most enjoyed video on the actual channel because it's a collaboration of all those skills including like a kit that you put together you know and showing how it all works and spring is coming up very soon and i will be going away for two weeks on a solo bushcraft venture where i'll be using this new kit I've got a sniff a few new items on the way and some i'm restoring and rebuilding to go in this kit you know like a noose or and an axe that I'm just sort of sorting out at the moment and be going away and obviously trying out this kit and incorporating some new skills as well showing some new skills on the channel so hopefully that should be sort of quite a good video coming up as well for those of you enjoyed that kind of video so I do appreciate you watching and I hope this is given a bit of an insight into what's to come and for those of you are sort of new to bushcraft hopefully that new series will provide you with a bit of a road to walk down or at least to give you a bit of guidance on where to go because
bushcraft is a pretty broad array of subjects that can be quite overwhelming when you have a look at it at first glance so thanks again guys and I really appreciate you watching and I hopefully will see you in the next video very very soon take care
About the Author
MCQBushcraft
I'm a UK based outdoorsman who started hunting and fishing with my friends when I was young.
Educating yourself about your surroundings and having the core skills to sustain yourself using your environment is a lost curriculum in the United Kingdom. We are well provided for, so well that "why do anything if somebody else will do it for you". This lifestyle has drastically disconnected people from having the knowledge and skills required to spend even one night in the woods and not get hungry.
I love being outdoors and have never lost the desire to learn and practice skills that I get a sense of natural connection from. Hunting hangs controversy in the minds of many, but in my eyes there is nothing more natural if you choose to eat meat. I appreciate that not everybody hunts in moderation though.
Thanks for reading
