hi guys doing this weird Myers mass outdoors I'm out here with my son Connor just showing him some bushcraft stuff today we're out for the day hike day outing in the woods just showing him how to put some stuff together how to make some stuff out it was you know just you know the regular stuff that we do throughout the week my little apprentice here so well we did a day it's about lunchtime so we're getting ready to eat we brought some stuff out in the woods with us that we want to share with you guys it's stuff that I bring with me on a regular basis and the reason why i do i always make sure that i pack some sort of calories in my haversack or whatever and with that being said i want the most bang for my buck you know the old rules of three thing where you can go three weeks without you know food and some people put food way down on the list under survival priorities you know that's going a little bit too far you know you can live three weeks out food try it you know it's definitely not fun I've done experiment I've been experiments on myself to wear three and a half days is pretty torturous you know day one I'm hungry but doesn't suck that much day 2 i'm really hungry and starting to get a headache it's all roar in the back of my head I'm grouchy you know day 3 I wake up with a splitting migraine very very hard pounding migraine when I stand up I get real dizzy on day three I've done this several times so I noticed it's not that one time I've done this experiment on myself several times and in fact it was a group of people with me that we're doing the same experiment on themselves so day three you're really really dizzy when you stand up it's hard to put one and one together and make two in your mind you know so that's that's one of the reasons why we were testing herself like that you know put yourself through extremes and see if you can still complete the task that you're trained to do you know what I mean we we do these drills over and over and over and over and over in our head you know and we do them in reality so that when we are under stress or when we are malnourished deprived it's just muscle memory to do them you know so that's why it's really important to definitely keep some kind of caloric value in your in your packs at all times you know so if something were to happen you know you're not going to get 2,000 calories a day but you're going to get enough to get you through each day you know until you're found or until you effect self-rescue but what we brought today like I said some stuff that I bring out with me on a regular basis and there's many reasons why I bring this stuff one it's fish canned fish it's one of the big things that I bring with me tons of protein for one thing boy loves it too so good and grab my pork out of this it's got a lot of protein there are some fats in there that the body needs juice nutritious that's right that's right so this just this one can write here is 350 calories it might not sound like much that's a decent meal you know that's gonna keep going definitely for sure and from all the other stuff that I can scrounge that I know that's in my head you know all the plant material and then if I score you know possum raccoon whatever groundhog that just makes this go that much further so there's many reasons why I do bring this stuff though this is wild kipper you know it doesn't really matter star Dean's herring got lost for words there you know all kinds of smoked and canned fish like this there's many reasons why I carry it one if you take the lid off these things this bloody razor sharp I mean it's sharp and there's a multitude of things that I'm going to be showing you guys what to do with just the lid of this thing in a later video just have much of a boy right now too if you just crack this can is full of either oils or you know water sometimes stuff like that that stuff is like a magnet for a raccoon sometimes possums if I can set up some snares and you know some other kind of proven of traps and deadfalls and things like that this stuff is what brings them into my sets you know the time it's not one hundred percent nothing's a hundred percent but this definitely helps I've gotten many many raccoons on sets to where I ran out of this and I let 20 sets you know but the 10 sets that i put this oil down with is what catches so what i usually will do is crack this stuff and then put it around my trap and then throw it to the trails you know to spray it to the trails and put it generously you know not enough that you're going to waste the whole can alone trap just and you'll flick it a couple times and that's going to get them working that trap so that's one real big reasons why I carry stuff like this too I think it tastes good you know I'm a big fish fan I like fish I like seafood in general you know what I mean and so does the boy evidently so alright so that's why bring that the second thing that I bring is tree nuts of some kind I carry a big bag this is just for me and Connor for a day but if I know that I'm going out on like you know an overnighter or something like that or I'm going deep into the woods like play National course or something like that that me and so my friends go to we're pretty far away from anything that walks on two legs I'll bring a rather big bag of this you know this stuff is just dense dense nutritional dense you know high court value there's a lot of fats and proteins and entry notes and I make my own mixture what I make is put walnuts almonds pistachios sunflower seeds pine nuts macadamia that's about it all in one bag and I'm set to go you know that way I'm not just chewing on almonds all freakin weekend sucks man you know I got a little bit of a variety there so between the fish and the nuts that I bring and you know the odd jerky from Tom Tom Tom you know like beef proteins and stuff like that I'm pretty much set and I could be set for close to a week sometimes you know I mean the boy brought his own can he likes this one it's uh it's smoked peppered herring fillets from polar and the you know they they don't taste bad at all I mean if a kid likes it come on kids don't like anything right so we're gonna have lunch bag stuff you like stuff oh yeah he's actually kind of picky with his food so I mean for him to like this fish kind of Joseph so for him to like it trust me there's other kids that are going like it you know that the the whole stigma that this gets like sardines you know i particularly i'm not a huge fan of canned sardines that's kind of getting on the rough end of canned fish you know I mean but these tastes nothing like that but we got some water here and our fish fillets we're gonna start chowing down guys here wasn't you tell craig go get it on you for love God okay y
that hungry
alright guys so this is my lunch right here got the smoked canned kippers this is Connors peppered herring fillets his favorite I guess from what he says you tell he's already been chowing on it good Connor you can eat huh here's that mixture of nuts that I usually bring with me like I said it's got almonds and walnuts sunflower seeds pine nuts macadamia nuts pistachios there's a general mixture of all kinds of stuff and like i said i'll usually bring a real big bag of this whitney dot you know we're about a mile and a half from the trailhead here or not very far in the woods so this is our launch and got some water here for me and Connor actually hear the cars is your water car sit down here take it from me bunk in big bud good luck alright cool so get our bellies full and go back to work huh yeah learn a bow drill today yeah we kind of work it on it some today how's that going you go I'm gonna get a cold day uh-huh we're gonna keep going until we get a cold day huh so when we're out here sleeping underneath of the tree because you couldn't get a goal but you're just going to be your fault right cuz I'm instructor I'm daddy huh it's gonna be all my fault okay well I'm gonna enjoy my lunch guys will get back to you here in a little bit and I make my own mixture what I do is I make for these call fucking Road with her go three two one all right no macadamias yeah food get her marijuana macadamia was born three two one
