we're going to talk about today is survival in winter outdoor strategies for conditions like it is right now right here today okay the biggest mistake that anybody makes going out in the woods or going on a trip just leaving their house is leaving their house ill prepared if you learn these ten vital piece of equipment and know how to use them properly their multifunction multi-purpose you can do in virtually anything all 10 pcs are available on the back of this card at path minor store and your one hour we're fine but we're going to go over the goods
you guys anybody everybody this is weighted Meyers for hannah's outdoors and we're going to go over what we consider the very basic kit which is a 10 piece kit on the reverse side of tires that you have in your hands you're going to notice there's 10 seeds and what's going to talk about them right now all right guys semi is William Myers going to show you what we carry on any basis but where would first like to start out by saying if you go to your local stores you find those little packages for mercy kids your Bible kid that's what why not
what's all this table right now is an emergency kit this is a survival kit this is what's going to maximize your percentages to come back from the camp injured or being lost it was like that the first thing is on the list is a chiton and something that's real fast something that's going to be able to compete on of the process would something that's going to be a style and not very fun second is a container of some kind
first of all a big percentage of this kid can fit in this container first of all second of all of stainless steel has 32 ounces so they're big plus is there I can boil my water the CBC courtesy you see only 107 way and make the water safe to drink that Frank's a rolling boil that's the only way chemical treatment filtering treatments they're not not even there for one game ninety-nine percent the only one learns that way to make sure that you killed any kind of pathogen chris burrman GRE anything like that boy there is a combustion place some of us going to make fire some thats going to work letters let stand snowing frozen something has to be able to fit fire there's something else that can be sure part
for biz portage this is easy enough to replicate the wild environment for strip bar clubs but it's easy to scare you but root of this and they even make big very calorie and you seem very strenuous seem to make 25 degrees enough that Mellie's number five on five g's p is a covering of ice something that's been something that's going to help you Avett shelter something that's going to help you control your full attention with or without a fire this can be used so my longest views reflect along river one wave radiation inquire and core rating 5 to 12 games alright so those are the basic 5 c's that's what the hardest things to replicate in the water and the hardest things define as a rock with student will make knife it's extremely difficult and time-consuming to burn in a container out of people would get content that fire it's hard enough to affect friction fire these are the things that is very difficult to replicate what so furthermore last five of these was going to help you just get home that's carbon tape duct tape the river brand duct tape is he felt guilty they said this stuff sticks on when it's wet it's cold ipad scott brown over the name brands they do a comp and Anna this is first babies to provide his first day of advantages this is charcoal to abduct your next fire guys are that is that there's a lot a candling device some of that's going to help you see it right through my time nightgowns you should already convention be in your shelter for not Greg I hilton outdated at night but he's also help you hunt get through gas turbines broadway near anything effect when he first and at night they proceed what's inside her body was it was literally just got also those batteries in fact fist infect fire please this is a colossal new this is really good the first day as well you hear that coming up a lot and these last five first day first day first day they replicate first day so I don't see your first aid kit because I have a perspective it's within the last five seasons of my kid this can dig splinters out this can be pre magnetized with battery to act as and into glass context the fossil team last but not least a compass a bit compass this can also act find a tix on me where I can't see with Mara body is to start a fire with Mac fireman plus it's an application alright guys so Jamie kind of covered the priority is a survival he's talking about water and things like that so you think water is a number one priority really water as soon as it happens something happens twist your ankle so that happens where you make your lost in the woods you got to find water right in there all right actually you need to find a way to control for light temperature rules of three is you have three minutes without air plus or minus LP or you have three hours exposure which can lead to type 0 or hyperthermia three days you can live without water it's not wrong trust me you're going to it is priority number one upon water you can go three weeks without food so your priorities you have to put your priorities in order you have to know what you're doing but controlling your core body temperature is number one and you're in your proper place obviously we can't agree that would be a priority as well but like I said controlling your pro-vitamin that started with how you leave the house it starts with what's on your body they've being prepared for new homes be prepared for what components and watch the news is it going to rain it is going to snow today is it below zero is it 100 degrees what you choose to leave the house is to beginning control your pool by temperature and then once you choose to pack with you in the event of an emergency is also thinking about
oh I temperature then three days without water then you start thinking about where am I going to find water well snow obviously this tell me your snows everywhere I want to share it with xfire you'll be able to disappoint there's lakes and streams our school you're going to have to disinfect that walk there's things like Cryptosporidium Giardia nasty bug very very City disinfection water
then you're gonna get some critters he ain't going to go hungry that's another property crime
you are peaceful more water
leeds your body needs actually green or especially me seems to break it down to effectively use them calories properly unless it's a month
ok
you need water to process now places
so Jamie makes a really good point us before our worries we go so if i don't have it water but I know that I'm comfortable in my control on controlling my full bite em perature lab rabbits this girls like see just all but I don't have I don't have a sure way like no I'm getting morning I got a lot of weight so more important to go scout that out I'm going to weigh my priorities better change my phone right now and so I guess in wash
imperium whistle
country you start to that whistle staff you're going to give a big I think they're going to make see if you hear sticks they scare off the animal or at least tell if there's a person outside of 10 hey you're prepared you've ever whistle time you may have done and whether you add a subtle you're prepared that says a lot that means that you have one more thing
infected
that's what a cheap the rescue
anything goes
be able to affect fire more than 45 be able to make be able to signal for rescue
whatever hand
I tell you a lot of words by myself three hours here those are just broad-based generalizations those can be plus or minus hey amount of time yeah so you really want to you want to listen to your body 119 if I body you want to know what's going on yourself I'm starting to feel dizzy I'm starting my yearns goes around you know get me hydrated and you need to know what's going on with yourself in their body aline between both of these trees right here and what I'm doing that I want things to be as simple and easy as possible I might be cold I might not be able to run my fingers the way I want to not be able to use so I want things to be pretty simple so I want to use simple not the first class that i'm going to talk about is bowling okay by just making a simple loop around my fingers just like that okay i'm gonna take that off my fingers and I'll pinch that loop very simple now my tag in right here I'm going to pop it through the loop hole right I'm gonna run it around my line just like this see just like that I'm going to put it back in the hole just like that okay oh why not that's not going to move its not going to slip there's a very simple way to explain how to do that if i make my loop again
I can explain it by this is a rabbit ok guys so rabbit comes out of the hole right rabbit goes around and their rabbit goes back in the hole ok that's not going to go anywhere the reason why we do that is we just want a simple loop something that we can take our line and run Peru choose the bowling is because you can break its back what it's called on the back side of that no matter what pressure pounds you put on that you can take that apart very easily and you don't have to cut your rope now I can really get some torque battle mat get that tight then I'm going to come over here not that I'm going to put on this trucker hey the reason why you'd like to use the trucker hitches because of something like a really good wrench on and something I can get a lot of pressure on and the way that I did is I start out by going around the tree and then I find 12 to 14 inches from the tree and I pinch right here okay and then I just make a loop just like that all right very easy and then all is just grab this line and pull it through the loop just like that right now i can when i'm done ready to leave all i have to do is pull that out but i can pull on it this way as much as i want it's not going anywhere now almost with the other side of the tree I could put my line through that and now that gives me an anchor to pool against I can get really really tight now that ridge line is really really tired right so now I could hang things from this Ridgeline that's not going to sag it's not going to drag and all I have to do just come over here and pinch my loop just like that okay you guys can't see getting closer okay and I take my working in right here now just drape it right over okay make that little loop right there and then I reach through and grab the rope and pull it now that's not going anywhere now what I've done is I've also made a little loop right here and I'm going to be able to use that one second when I show you but again when I'm ready to go what I'm ready to try to walk out of the woods all i have to do is pull down on this and i'm ready to go so if i'm really really flavorful and I can't use my hands to pick the stuff apart I don't have to all I have to just pull on this it's ready to go okay we use that loop here a second actually no
alright guys so another thing we like to do is something that's going to be able to join two pieces along or it's going to be able to make a loop that's what's called a fisherman's knot okay it's the basic not a basic square knot overhand knot on one side nothing tough just the regular or not but if you see my tag in is going that way right so on the other side my not it's the regular overhand knot my tagging is going right so that means I could pull against that and really wrench down on it let's go sandwich itself between each other and this is not going in okay just come to this side of my ridgeline like to do is cuddle enough that's all that is is that I'm running just like this keeping things as neat as I can clean that not up all right the reason why we use these because I can slide this anywhere I want to okay but this time song for it to have pressure on it it won't go in there we go yeah now that won't go anywhere as much as I pull on that that's really not going to go anywhere you I have a little bit slipping move those but it what's good about that is you can readjust in the middle of the night if the wind is ripping up your tent bird your tarp floor and you're getting loose boards reach out slide that prusik knot over and it's gonna diagn up your system the thing about this paracord is one sits under tension long enough it's going to stretch and you're going to have sagging in your tarp and your shelter things look at ya I'll show you here about two seconds okay so like I said yeah this is just good for real quick adjustments because I can adjust it myself but it's not going to go so this is what we're going to use as our shelter and like I said with that trucker's hitch we made this loop right here we're going to utilize that loop for the start of our shelter what we're going to do is we're going to poke that loop through the grommet hole part are like just guys this is really cool then I can just pick up any stick that I want and just shove it in that hole just like that then pull right down that first nut on that loop that's not going anywhere so I did I have to tie it enough that I have to do anything no fuss no muss that's not our stuff like that then I'm on and that's not so pretty much the same thing with this side is then i use my pursuit not in the same general manner as a loop put a stick through it then I just until my sharp spike all right that time Denny not amer my tarp is already attached my rich you
