hey guys doing this is William iris mass outdoors last video i did was on some of the food that i carry into the field and i showed you guys can fish that I always carried I carried for a lot of reasons and in that video I told you I was going to show you guys some of the other reasons why I carry that fish some of the things that you can do just what they can and that's what this video is alright guys so what we got here is the lid it's one of those fish tens and right away what I want to do is I want to knock this pool tab on and that is not going to get thrown away that is very useful so we're going to set that aside and now what I want to show you guys first of all when you're working with this stuff you have to be rather careful it is incredibly show her pretty sharp but what I want to do is just make like kind of a secondary blade out of this and all I want to do is start by folding this top part right here the only thing that does is keep my back of my hand away from that cutting edge if you have a multi-tool you kind of make the money to help you out so just like this just with it in my hand will help me kind of skin out things I'm not going to be chopping down trees with this thing's guys it's not like that but it can help you process some small animals out and things like that there's also one other thing you can do just with this lid just like this we're going to show you that right now alright guys so what we got going on now is I just got a basic stick and what I did was I shaved that stick down with my multi-tool and then I split it with the knife of this multi-tool and what I want to do now is we're going to make basically a secondary knife for this and like I said this is definitely nothing that you're going to be doing some heavy duty work with that's pretty much perfect right there just like that again you got to be really careful when you're working with this stuff get cut but what I want to do is I want to make two holes just for some small lashings for this I could do that with a multi-tool at all very easy you know there are tools in the woods that this can be done with you know sharp rocks and things like that stuff isn't that heavy duty you can get through it pretty easily but now with the stick in these holes I could put this in here and I can lash this to my stick I could cut that a little bit I don't need that that long i can actually bring that down right about here and then a way i might be able to get more leverage on something if i'm cutting it vegetation can be chopped this way if you take if you're in a situation where you need to you can take a rock and then another Rock and you can pound this edge and that will sharpen it up just a little bit more right now it'll cut it'll cut so we got that that's one of the first things I wanted to show you just how to kind of make an improvised cutting device out of this now let's move on like I said I don't want to throw away this pop tab because it could be you made into a fishing hook relatively easily so again I'm going to pop off edge with that of a multi-tool and again this can be done this process that i'm going to do can be done with rocks you can set the rock down you could pound with a sharp rock until you get that fracture that I'm looking for but what I'm looking for is to make basically a fishhook out of that diagonal edge right there right there pretty much perfect now what I want to do is offset that just a little bit and now that's a pretty nice fish hook just like at very simply I can bait that throw that out with some cordage pretty nice cat fish hook just very very simply just from that pop tab all right now I'm just on to the main body of the tent itself this obviously is a container it could be used as such you know keep you think we're keeping things organized or just simply carrying water in it not very much going to be able to boil very much in here but if you are going to do something like that with it I would kind of sit in a fire and boil it out there is a like plastic liner in here sometimes I don't think this one has it though but some of the containers have linings and them to keep the fish you know taste and fresher but what I've done in the past is taking this and invert it right on the ground just like this and then what I'll do is I'll pack dirt all around it very very tightly except for one point either on the one end or the other doesn't matter just packed her all the way around it until you reach a certain point and then go to the other point alright so the purpose of this is packing dirt all the way around it except for one point right here is to you could use this as a chart n basically just by laying some cotton material on the ground covering it with the ten packing dirt around it so you know you don't you're not going to want to poke a hole in this because if you're down to you do something like this maybe this is your only container you don't want to sacrifice this as a container maybe you can use this to drink out of you know attach a stick this point it can be used as a ladle you know all kinds of things that this can be used for you know drinking device you know storing devices so all the things this can be used for the possibilities are limitless pretty much you don't want to put a hold on this and sacrifice the container itself but you can use this to make char just by putting it down over some cotton material packing dirt around it so it's a tight seal except for one point and the purpose of that would be to let the gas vape out what you're doing when you're making char cloth is your burning the the material and an oxygen list you know you're not providing oxygen to to the fire firing these three things heat fuel and oxygen so if you take one of those away be an oxygen you're basically just going to carbonize the material that you're trying to carbonize I don't care if it's plant material like mole n etc goldenrods I've even done or some kind of cotton material so that's just another thing that these can be used for alright guys so just really wanted to quickly shoot that video to show you some of the things that out-of-the-box thinking can do just with simple things like I can you know make it a secondary cutting device making fish hooks chart ends ladles forbidden for drinking out out you know on a no no no no no no just get something and come up with more uses for it hi guys wispen william iris mass outdoors i hope you enjoyed the video and if you did I appreciated click subscribe down below lack of my
