hey how you guys doing this is William ours manse outdoors today we're going to be doing a skills-based video for you will be working with some natural materials so don't go away all right guys what we got going on here is grapevine some people call it water vine it's going all the way up into the tree all the way up there to the limits of my cameras tripod this is a really really good resource to know there are some of these up contain a fair amount of water if you slice into them be able to get a nice drink if you're going to have the ability to access or boiled water but you know that's not it's not like every single one of these is going to pour water like people think but one of the good things about these especially this time of year is that we can gather at fire material from them so let's go ahead and do that now you know very very quickly I can get enough material to start a really really good flyer it doesn't take very long at all to gather this stuff up it takes longer to process this tinder down and open up that surface area then it does together it'll tell you that just kind of get lunch this got it up stripped off and we're going to go over here process it down and see what we can get from A Fella rock yeah this tough no char cloth needed you guys nothing like that now no other tenders just this in a fair rod and you're in the money nice trip there this does make pretty decent portage as well makes pretty strong cordage maybe not oh no this actually does want to twist it up it makes pretty good cordage but we'll save that for the deal alright guys let's go over here where I've already gathered up a bunch of this stuff and see if we can't process it down and get a sport alright this is a section of that grapevine that I ripped down and you can see there's already you could see the the contour lines in the grapevine itself and all you really got to do is kind of give that a little bit of a wiggle wiggle my kids laughing in the background and you can see it busts up those fibers but that's not it that's not all that you have to do is get this process down a lot further than ish it keep stretching and pulling this out bust these fibers down to their lowest common denominator and then you're going to be able to get this to take a spark from a fair Rob pretty readily alright guys so what I usually do it I usually do this on top of a tart but I'm going to do it I could do it in my lap as well you know take a section of it and just kind of basically use your hands as a pestle and mortar a minute you know this will be the bowl and this would be the hammer stone or we'll have you just basic grind it up and bust those fibers into your hand I eat a bowl just like this grind all that in there not what that's doing is right now I'm separating all the fibers all the long fibers that are hand grapevine got turn around did same to the other side keep progressing down and what you can see happens is now as a bunch of long strings this there's nowhere near ready to go like I said processing this stuff down takes longer to spin it does gathering it but keep grinding that into your hand busting those sped up feathers busting those fibers up can't talk today guys grab it pull it apart you want as much surface area as you can processing your natural tender down is where you're going to have your success success if you take the time and process your natural tenders down you're gonna hear I have a lot better of a time with it you know it's not going to give you such a headache as you can see right there all I got to do is take that just kind of give it a twist and that bus tins fibers down and it's like a fan almost that's what we're basically doing with the whole bundle as we're just ripping it up tearing it up getting those fibers separated I want them as small as possible and that's what's going to give me a successful affair rod really really really tiny strings of this great bond you want to do this over something so you can catch all the all the extra stuff that kind of comes off this is well don't want to discard that see I come to a big clump like that right there just kind of take your hands and pull it apart yeah I'm going heck lot slower on camera to show you guys this but you can see the process of bussing is down to tinier fibers you know this is this might not go up on the first bark might take me a couple spars to get the stuff to go up but this is a heck of a tender that you can just pick up for free hang up from a tree somewhere and you see all the stuff that's in the bottom of my hoodie right there that's good stuff to guys I'm going to just throw that away yeah just 56 minutes of me doing this you're having been doing it that long right as of yet we'll get me a nice tender bundle well light with just a fair all but one of the some of the things that I see when people are messing with natural tenders and then they're having headaches is that they're not spending enough time on preparation I mean I agree it is a can be a bit of a tedious process I actually enjoy it you know there's nothing better than me and coming out in the woods and doing this stuff but that's me some people kind of feel that this is a laborious task alright i gather up all that stuff in the bottom of my hoodie I think we got something good enough to hit with fair out here like I said I don't think it will go to the first whack like some other tenders but i'm pretty sure we get it to go it's good stuff here guys make sure you add that into your tinder bundle all right let's go over here see if we can't hit this with a fair odds he will we get you know the best advice that I can give you is work on your Pharaoh technique so you could put spark after spark pretty much in the same place let's change up here do just like just pops parks right in there we go a little bit of a tactic change cutting on you see how good this is as a tender stuff is great stacked just a whole bunch of unprepared unprocessed grapevine on top of it and we're rolling guys

now I'm doing right now is just kind of feeding the unburnt sections of a grapevine and try not to burn myself in the process and a fire until I'm hurt sometimes
