hi guys this is William Irish Manus outdoors today we're going to kind of doing a redo of video that I did not too long ago in the past was about first park as a natural tender and I've been having some questions and so basically some problems on my facebook and emails and things like that so I'd like to kind of redo the video and show you how to fix those problems and how to get success using birch bark as a natural tender all right so one of the things that I've gotten is that people say oh it rips and tears i'm not getting very good fine hairs or whatever you know and the only way that i can really explain that help you out is this if you look at the birch bark you'll see horizontal lines and you really want to stay that would be the grain of the bark and you want to stay with the grain of the bark you don't want to go against the grain because just gonna pop and tear and you're not going to get very fine hairs but if you go with the grain and what i do first safety is I put up my middle finger and my thumb and I kind of try to stay in between those two like that and I just pull up as much fine hairs exposing all that surface area that I can just like that yeah I had a comment on my facebook the guy just really couldn't eat I said I've been trying for three days and I haven't able start a fire with / for I barely even got a flame and it just goes out real quickly and I don't really understand that maybe you're not working with purchase maybe a swimmer horse but I have to really get this with river bark our verse park as well so I don't really know how to explain that but maybe hopefully this video will help you out as much as possible so having all those tiny hairs exposed up like that yeah separate them up as much as I can here get all the surface area that I can and just give that a really hit with a really nice bark

now you okay birch bark is very great resource and if you're blessed enough to live in an area that has it it really is a good resource for creating fire if you can see that black smoke that black smoke is calls from a volatile oil called what Megan fetch ilim that's one good yeah I've kind of trying to teach my wife some of the ins and outs of bushcraft she just now kind of sparked a really good interest in it so I'm happy for that as well but yeah the vault oil and birch bark is betch alone and we can actually extract that for other uses as well but that will be for another video but like i said if you're blessed enough to live in an area that has paper birch river birch I mean there's all kinds of them then you definitely should have no problems creating a flyer and hopefully this video helped any of the people that have been on my facebook or even email any questions I hope maybe this helped you out and send make some videos of your own and cinema has a response video to this I'd love to see that love to see people out there practicing skills and out in the woods doing what they do but this has been William Myers mass outdoors if you enjoyed this video please hit subscribe like in the video it helps me out a lot I appreciate all your comments and support will see out in the woods
