hi guys and welcome back today I'm out on just a short little hike not too far from my house just out by the lake and thought I'll show that show you some of my gear today like the gear I started up with when I started this couple of months ago and how to boost craft on a budget basically and we're going to make a fire and we're gonna make some lunch and just a like up camping sandwich or hiking sandwich or whatever you want to call it days away like so stay tuned we'll get back into that but first we're going to get fire going and make some lunch

[Music]

definitely need to work a bit on my feather sticks but I'm not half bad could be worse okay got some feather sticks some kindling and I'm going to try out some some of my homemade fire starters I made mid last couple of days when it was raining broken table fire starting box with me today as a cotton pads I take the spark from the fire steel real easy the mattress in there little candle from birch bark a lighter always nice to have and I have some fat food on us on the string is this also really effective what what I'm trying out today there's one of these it's a match that are rolled in a cotton pad and I dipped it in wax and I tried this out at home and get my community minute burn time out of one of these so now I'm going to try them out in the real life see if they're any good try that again so that I fail a lot so it's okay

cleaning is learning seems like that's going yeah

birth quiet looks like it's working we're just going to start with my feather sticks get those on there I want my kindling okay well we wait for that fire to to get going and burn down to like embers I'm going to show you a gear this is like my basic bushcraft set and it's all done on a budget so pretty much everybody should be able to afford something like this if they want to they want to start doing bushcraft and going out on day hikes or overnighters well let's check it out first I want to start with my backpack the phone it's an old army surplus backpack I paid like maybe five six dollars for this in an used item store it has been used by the Norwegian army and that's a metal frame leather and canvas so it's really sturdy it's going to take a beating and it's been used so it's probably the I don't know maybe the 60s so this is going to last a while and it's a good alternative to buying like the expensive ones Excel and an expensive new one so like this backpack lot I think it's about maybe 60 60 or 65 litres two big pockets on the sides also sits a lot of gear in there it's a nice one next up I have a tarp three by three meters it's made from a company called obvious here the region company pretty cheap one probably not the best quality but for a beginner like me it works really great and I have an old sleeping pad bought this is like a dollar store I think it was back here probably a couple of dollars not that one but works for me and I usually bring some paracord when I go out to win this you know need this stuff a lot for all kinds of things well always good to have in the backpack my first aid kit when you're doing using knives and axis and making fires and stuff this is always nice to have it's just pretty basic has like bandages and band-aids some burn gel stuff like that so don't don't go out on and play with knives if you don't have this so it's good to have I have my fire kit this is so maybe earlier God also like basic stuff fire scale some matches some cock wood lighter and just some birch bark and stuff I pick when I'm out my candle so here you have about everything you need to get a fire going in most conditions [Music]

and when I'm just out on small day hikes and I'm not going to like prepare food or anything I don't need a big fire I usually bring this Primus put this little stops the researchers and this works great for you know making a coffee and or frying an egg or whatever it's a really nice set it is also a cheap one this was like maybe ten dollars and the can of can of gas is probably like five six dollars so good deal for cutting tools

carry this on my knife more robust it sells for about ten twelve dollars here in Norway it's been working great for me at least seems to can take a lot of beating with this I use it for the toning wood and stuff this is a great great starter knife I guess you don't have to buy one of these five hundred dollar knives to just go out in the woods and have fun and for smaller trips I usually bring my 8-inch zombie knife this is a really nice tool no you don't new really need an axe if you bring this this you can chop down trees split firewood I also use it as a can opener and cutting bread and it's broad enough that you can have like a new with it if you have to so this is my most extensive piece of gear I got this for Christmas from my girlfriends a couple years ago and using this a lot when I go out fishing and stuff I really love this knife great knife it's a really traditional knife the Sami people in Norway have been making it this shape of knife for who knows how long for a long time

this was about guessing 160 dollars or something for one of these and they come in all all sizes even longer than this my folding saw this was paid about five dollars for this one it's a pool action only saw and it's been working really great for me it's held up for months now in cutting a lot of wood with it really practical to to bring it we're going to make fires or make a shelter or anything like that well today I also brought my my ex it's um just an old axe I found it in the basement gotten all so old it is it was all rusty and dinged up and I got it so I just sanded it down sharpen the edge and put some paracord on it let's go back here for you can hang it up yeah it does the job I usually bring a pair of gloves always nice to have when you're around the fire or chopping wood I have a my coffee kettle in here I have some tea bags my sugar and powdered coffee nothing fancy nothing fancy in the woods this is also real cheap set came with like in with this to organize some toilet paper always nice to bring this was about I guess a $10 set we're also one bigger kettle and a small frying pan which I didn't bring today I have a aluminum water flask pay about $5 I guess what is maybe six working okay nice to have water have one of these spork oh it's nice to have and if you don't want to buy one you can do like me just carve your own spoon it's a fun project when it's raining out or days you really can't go out bushcrafting just get a knife in a piece of wood and try to make one of these it's been working great and this funded project and I am I cook sir for coffee and he just did not make this one myself I bought this one it was a bit overpriced I think what yeah I just really like to look away then I just had to have it so above it so that was my my gear really didn't need to bring all of these things today but for instance I would probably not bring an axe just for this little day trip when I brought my saw me noise and when was for showing you guys and for this video so now I'm starting to get hungry as always I have a big belly who needs a needs a lot of filling so let's get to lunch and coffee there's there's my lunch on the fire so surprised let's see what's inside when it's finished just how I like it black with a lot of sugar in it a good day to be alive that's for sure Cheers okay lunch time let's open it up and check it out this guy's Bush sandwich just two slices of bread some of the garlic butter from Jarlsberg Cheese smoked turkey and peppers just wrapped in aluminum foil and put it straight on the straight on the fire melted cheese in there

so there we go sandwich on the fire will simple have to make taste delicious yeah lunchtime seat nice and crispy talk that's that

let's do it looks like they're stuck to HR soda you ever seen something like that to birds talk to each other I'm going to see if I can capture it looks like something's wrong dad let's go check them out something's wrong yeah take it easy take it easy

I'm gonna hurt you looks like an August foot you guys been fighting and other obstacles ease over which you can see one of them's photo one of them is like the skin is torn off you feel horrible to you

you

Oh

[Applause]

I know what's wrong with this guy's it looks like they've been fighting and one of them got is the food twisted into the the feathers of the other one so they were stuck together with this one here in the back looks like he got it he hurt his leg the skin was torn off the legs it was like bloody there he goes you guys you two hurt a fly yeah one of them flew off it was looked fine flying flying nice and both his legs looked fine but the other one had his leg destroyed skin was torn off and it was bleeding and one of his wings were all limp and yeah he flew maybe a couple of meters and just crashed landed and was jumping around on the ground didn't look well at all so I put an end to his misery kind of sucks but I think think it was the right thing to do because you know can't just let him he would start to death and just have a slow painful death not or some some predator would come and pick him off but see here is a lot of crows here so they would they would spot him pretty fast and and eat him so just put him out of his misery I hope that was the right thing to do was not fun but

I think it's better than him just starving to death on the ground so okay guys that's it for this time thanks for watching and kind of sucks I had to kill that bird but I think it was the best thing to do don't like thought of it like just dying slowly by itself on the ground here or getting eaten by a crow or something but so yeah that was not so much good wives but life can't be all good wives so until next time wide wide until Google [Music]
